Vandal leaves man scratching his head in horror

A CRANBOURNE man was horrified last week to discover his car scratched, mirrors smashed and tyres slashed.
The man came outside in the morning last Friday and found his Ford ute, which had been parked in the driveway of his Wallace Road home, had been vandalised.
Police believe some time between 11pm on Thursday, 22 March and 6am the following day someone let down all four of the car’s tyres, smashed two side mirrors, cut all the elastics from the tarpaulin and scratched expletives on the body and windows of the car.
The damage totalled $5500.
The man, who did not wish to be named, said he did not believe the attack was random.
He said the attacker had gone to the trouble of removing the tubeless valves in the tyres and taken off the petrol cap.
“I was worried they’d done something to the fuel tank at first,” he said.
“Coming out to find that mess was not fun. I’ve only had the car 18 months.”
He said the vandal had also started to scratch into his girlfriend’s car but must have been scared and ran off.
He said someone might have seen something and urged witnesses to come forward.
The attacker is thought to be female.
Anyone with information should contact the officer in charge at Cranbourne Uniform on 5991 0600 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
