THE second birthday of Cranbourne’s U3A has been crowned a success by newly re-elected president Bev Wood.
Casey mayor Colin Butler and secretary of U3A Network Victoria Deirdre Meredith made speeches on Friday, 27 July, to recognise the achievement.
Cr Butler announced that the local organisation is likely to be able to move into its new base at the rear of Cranbourne Library by February.
Mrs Wood said: “We are really looking forward to another great year and… I’m sure we’ll attract new members when we move to our new location so it all looks good for the future.”
The new committee was elected and the following individuals were voted in: Mrs Wood (president), Jim Hedrick (vice-president), Sonny Thomsen (junior vice-president), Judy Symons (secretary), Annette O’Donohue (treasurer), Margaret McGregor (assistant secretary-treasurer and delegate), Judie Hedrick (delegate), Hilary Hazeldene and Sue Trembath.
“We’ve already been recipients of grants from the council and the Department for Victorian Communities and hopefully they’ll be responsive in giving grants in the future to keep us sailing along,” Mrs Wood said.
