New look carols

THE Cranbourne Rotary Club’s Carols by Candlelight looks to be a luminous event this year with a new location and new night.
The carols will now be held at new sporting complex Casey Fields this Saturday, 16 December.
Chairman of the carols committee Peter Carpenter said organisers expected between 2000 and 3000 people to attend.
This year a stage will be set up in the VFL oval, with people welcome to sit in the middle of the oval and have a picnic or a sing-along.
Also featured will be battery-operated candles, which were successfully trialed at last year’s event at Cranbourne Secondary College.
Mr Carpenter said he hoped the new location would not deter people from coming and said it would definitely be a night to remember.
The night will feature local bands and identities, the Berwick band, and Santa will make a special visit ferried in by the local CFA.
People can purchase programs with the songs for $5, including two battery-powered candles, and will automatically be entered in a raffle to win Christmas hampers.
Candles can also be bought individually for $2 and take-away food will be available on site.
The night will end with a fantastic fireworks display, as long as it is not a total fire ban day.
The event will start at 7.30pm at Casey Fields on Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne, with parking at the VFL oval and people can arrive between 6pm and 6.30pm.
