Floating body a dummy run

A REPORT of a body floating in the water at Cannons Creek turned out to be a dummy call for Cranbourne Police on the weekend.
About 30 officers raced to the small coastal village on Saturday after locals alerted police to a female lying face down in shallow water at the foreshore.
A police helicopter circled as Acting Sergeant Peter Carroll waded into Westernport Bay to discover the body was in fact a plastic mannequin.
Act Sgt Carroll said the dummy was wearing a T-shirt and appeared lifelike. He praised the cooperation of the model, who police named Debbie, and warned all dummies to be careful near water.
“She was the silent type, but remained calm and did what I asked of her,” he said.
“Of course, police realise dummies enjoy a day out, but police would warn them to be careful when they venture near water, especially if they can’t swim or float.”
