City fills missing links with paths

LINKING Casey communities will be one of council’s major priorities for 2006.
Council recently reviewed its Linking Path Strategy, which aims to construct pedestrian/cycle paths to connect communities to activity centres, public facilities and other towns.
Manuka Road was identified as council’s top priority footpath for the new year, followed by Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road, Craig Road, South Gippsland Highway and Magid Drive.
Cranbourne North residents are set for safe passage to Lynbrook and Hampton Park thanks to a new path along the South Gippsland Highway.
Council recently completed the first stretch of concrete path from Thompsons Road to Elizabeth Street and will begin work on a gravel link from Elizabeth Street to Lynbrook Boulevard at a cost of $106,000.
The track will connect pedestrians from Lynbrook Heights Estate to existing paths on Hallam Road.
Connections exist from Hampton Park along Hallam Road to the Princes Highway regional trail and through to the metropolitan trails via Dandenong Creek.
