A WOULD-BE thief left empty-handed after a foiled robbery at a Hampton Park petrol station last week.
The man entered the United service station on Hallam Road about 12.25am on Wednesday, 1 March, and purchased a sausage roll before leaving.
He returned approximately five minutes later and approached the counter demanding money and food.
A second service station attendant came out and the man left after pushing items off the counter.

A Hampton Park teenager suffered head injuries after he was brutally bashed with a baseball bat in Cranbourne last week.
It is believed the 15-year-old was talking to a friend outside Sandhurst Shopping Centre on Monahans Road about 10.30pm on Saturday, 4 March, when a group of youths got out of a car.
The youths shouted at the boy before hitting him several times across the head with the bat.
They then fled in a white Holden or Ford station wagon. The boy was taken to the Dandenong Hospital where he received stitches to his head.
A MAN was punched several times on the head during a road rage incident in Cranbourne.
It is believed the man was pulling into the driveway of his Sladen Street home at 3.55pm on Sunday, 5 March, when he almost struck one of three passing cyclists.
One of the male cyclists shouted at the driver before ramming his bike into the car door.
The driver was punched by another of the bike riders as he attempted to get out of his car.
The three cyclists then rode off.
The driver received minor facial injuries.
One of the offenders is described as 30 years old, caucasian, 175cm tall and of medium build.
POLICE are investigating a spate of vandalism attacks on three display homes in Lynbrook last week.
The automated sprinkler control boxes were ripped off the walls in all of the neighbouring homes on Red Mallee Court between 5pm on Thursday, 2 March, and 7am on Friday, 3 March.
Each unit is valued at about $1500.
