Armed bandit holds up service station

By Sarah Schwager
AN ARMED robber held up a service station in Cranbourne last week.
A 25-year-old woman was working at the Coles Express Service Station on the corner of Cranbourne-Frankston and Cemetery roads about 11.30pm on Monday, 23 April when a man entered the shop.
Police said the man came to the door with what appeared to be a beanie on his head.
As he entered the door he pulled the beanie over his face and produced a knife, demanding money from the victim.
She handed over a small amount of cash and the man was last seen running from the store along Cemetery Road.
Police said about an hour earlier the same man committed an attempted armed robbery at the 7-Eleven store in Frankston.
The man entered the Beach Street store and threatened the attendant with a knife.
The attendant immediately called police and the man fled on foot east along Beach Street.
The man is described as Caucasian, about 30 to 40, about 175cm, of medium build and wearing a dark coloured balaclava, dark coloured button-up jacket, dark pants and runners.
Anyone with information should contact Detective Senior Constable Mark Fitt from Frankston Embona Taskforce on 9784 5542 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
