Truck owner menaced with pistol

A HAMPTON Park man confronted a man with a gun who was attempting to break into his truck last week.
The 39-year-old was walking to his truck on Olive Road, Hampton Park, about 4am on 9 August when he saw someone trying to open the passenger door, grabbed him and pulled him back from the truck.
Police said the man then turned around and pulled out a black pistol, pointed it at the owner and told him to back off.
The owner walked backwards away from the armed man, then ran off through vacant property.
The armed man did not steal anything from the truck.
Police released a photofit of a man described as clean-shaven with an olive complexion and slim build, wearing a white cap, navy blue hooded zip jacket, blue jeans and white runners.
Anyone with information was urged to contact Senior Constable Derrick Verity at Cranbourne Police Station on 5991 0600 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
