Pool for future generations

A NEW Rock Pool Pavilion was opened at the Royal Botanic Gardens of Cranbourne on the weekend.
The Rock Pool Pavilion is part of the newly completed Australian Garden which was officially opened in May.
The pavilion came alive to the sounds of the Warrior Poets and was accompanied by an artist who completed a painting of the rock pool during the performance.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford, who opened the pavilion at the special event on Saturday, said it was an important part of the garden and would be enjoyed by thousands of residents and visitors for many years to come.
“The Royal Botanic Gardens in Cranbourne is fast becoming a development of national significance,” Cr Bradford said.
“Designed by award winning architect Greg Burgess and constructed in natural materials, the pavilion is easily accessible from the main pedestrian concourse and will become a focal point for community education and local activities.”
The official opening event was initiated by councillor Janet Halsall, who is also a Royal Botanic Gardens board member.
There were about 80 guests from the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, local environmental and friends groups, representatives of Landcare, Casey Conservation Advisory Committee and the community.
Cr Bradford also reminded residents that a free family pass is being issued in all Casey rates notices to encourage people to come and see the Australian Garden for themselves.
