A MAN has been charged following four knifepoint robberies of taxi drivers in Cranbourne.
The charges relate to incidents on 18, 19, 20 and 25 October.
The robberies sparked a manhunt by police after each of the taxi drivers was approached by a man with a knife who then stole or attempted to steal cash before fleeing.
The robberies all occurred about the same time at night and the drivers each reported a well-spoken man who hailed or called the taxis then approached them, pulled out a knife and in some cases turned off the ignition.
Police arrested Matthew John Sposito, 19, of Cranbourne last Thursday and charged him with armed robbery.
He was remanded in custody to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
