Campaign lens support to needy

UNWANTED spectacle frames will become treasure to those with poor eyesight in Bali.
Harvey World Travel Cranbourne has launched a campaign to collect old frames from residents to be used for a special eye care project.
Store manager Natalina Mascaro said the initiative had already received a warm response, with the donated frames to be used by the Balibased John Fawcett Foundation that focuses on free health care for the poor in Bali.
“Harvey World Travel established a longterm relationship with the John Fawcett Foundation in the aftermath of the Bali bombings.
“The JFF has major sight restoration and blindness prevention activities, which include carrying out hundreds of cataract operations for villagers and children throughout the island with its mobile eye surgery clinics,” she said.
Ms Mascaro said the spectacle drive would directly benefit those who would otherwise not be able to receive the basic eye care necessities.
“It is encouraging to see the demonstration of support from our customers and is a continued recognition of how people of goodwill respond to the plight of the poor and needy, whatever nationality and whatever surrounding events beyond their control,” she said.
