CASEY deputy mayor Rob Wilson is off to Western Australia for another waste and recycling conference.
Cr Wilson’s recent trip to Malta for the Fifth International Conference on Waste Management and the Environment caused much controversy among the council and community over the cost of airfares and expenses.
In the end he paid for all expenses except his accommodation and conference registration.
This time, however, he will be joined by fellow councillor Michael Farley, as well as a council officer.
Cr Wilson said this conference, to be held in Fremantle, differed from the Malta conference as it had more of an Australian flavour and was not as scientific.
The conference also includes a tour of plastic and E-waste recycling.
“Waste and recycling is a growing problem in this municipality,” Cr Wilson said.
“I hope to bring back some important information to the council.”
Wilson set for second conference
