CHAMPION cyclist Katie Mactier rode into Cranbourne last week to promote the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Ms Mactier visited Amstel Golf Club last Thursday as part of the Tabaret Be A Part Of It campaign, which encourages Victorians to get behind next year’s Games.
The 2004 Olympic silver medallist signed autographs for excited customers and was accompanied by Karak, the official Commonwealth Games mascot.
Ms Mactier is a member of the Team Tabaret athlete experience program to provide Tabaret customers the opportunity to meet past and present Australian sporting heroes.
Team Tabaret includes swimmers Michael Klim, Giaan Rooney and Nicole Livingstone, Barrie Lester, lawn bowls, Mike McKay, Oarsome Foursome, Raelene Boyle, athletics, and Louise Dobson, hockey.
Tabcorp’s chief executive of gaming Mohan Jesudason said Tabcorp was proud to be a partner of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.
“We are very excited to offer our customers the chance to share in the magic of the Games and to be part of this landmark sporting event for Victoria and Australia,” Mr Jesudason said.
