CASEY mayor Kevin Bradford has praised the standard of this year’s Citizens of the Year Award nominees.
The awards will be held on Australia Day, Thursday, 26 January to acknowledge the efforts of individuals and groups who have made the most outstanding contribution to the Casey community.
This year 36 nominations were received, including eight residents for Citizen of the Year, 10 for Young Citizen of the Year, six for Senior Citizen of the Year, four people for NonResidents of the Year and eight for Community Event of the Year.
Cr Bradford said he was impressed by the remarkable stories of individuals and the local events that helped band the community together.
“The Casey Citizens of the Year Awards provide an opportunity to officially recognise the efforts of individuals and groups who have made a difference in the Casey community through their time and effort in any number of activities,” he said.
“Casey is a vibrant and exciting place to live, filled with exceptional people and celebrated by a host of wonderful events.
“The calibre of this year’s nominees is a tribute to our amazing community.”
The winner of each category will be announced at a ceremony on Australia Day.
