POLICE are on the hunt for a rapist who attacked a woman in Cranbourne last month.
A 45-year-old Cranbourne woman went for a walk at midnight and was on Isaac Smith Crescent laneway when she was grabbed from behind.
She screamed as the man pulled her onto the ground, forced her onto her back and raped her.
The man, who was wearing a black balaclava at the time, then ran off.
The rape took place on Monday 20 August but was not reported until Monday 3 September.
Police said as well as being emotionally traumatised by the attack, she was also left severely bruised.
Police are asking anyone who heard the woman screaming or saw a man run off or a car leaving the area at speed to come forward.
Call Detective Senior Constable Ray Ross at Cranbourne CIU on 5991 0661 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 to remain anonymous.
