A NOBLE Park man has been charged over the assault of a man on a Cranbourne-bound train early on Saturday morning.
Mark Eli, 21, was charged with intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury, assault with a weapon, and unlawful assault.
He appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday when his hearing was adjourned until 13 December.
A 20-year-old Creswick man was left fighting for his life after he was allegedly assaulted about 5.30am on the Cranbourne-bound train.
The victim managed to free himself and ran into an adjoining carriage, where he opened the train doors and jumped out.
At that stage the train was pulling away from Sandown Park Railway Station and was about 150m from the platform.
Another train driver found the man and notified the police.
The injured man was taken to the Alfred Hospital with life-threatening head injuries.
