A THIEF escaped a Cranbourne carwash with a bucket full of coins.
Police said that about 3am on Tuesday 28 August the Breeze Car Wash on South Gippsland Highway was broken into.
The thief gained access through the roof of the main office building, triggering the alarm in the process.
Once inside, the culprit emptied the gold coins collected at the carwash into a bucket, then fled in a car.
Police said a car was intercepted nearby with a bucket with $2000 worth of coins, torches, gloves and other equipment used for burglaries.
A 37-year-old Hampton Park man was charged with burglary and will receive summons from the Narre Warren Police to appear before court.
