ONE traffic incident led to another, causing a major traffic diversion during peak hour in Cranbourne South last week.
The Western Port Highway was blocked for two hours after a north-bound car wandered into the gravel shoulder about 400 metres from North Road.
The incident happened at 6.30am last Tuesday, 16 May.
Police said after hitting the gravel the driver overcorrected and lost control, side-swiping a south-bound vehicle.
That car then lost control, hit a tree front-on and rolled.
The driver was trapped, had to be freed by rescue crews and sustained serious injuries.
Traffic was diverted at North Road and Homewood Road.
