HAMPTON Park residents braved the cold recently to share their thoughts on the future of their suburb.
Locals visited Hampton Park Shopping Centre at a special SpeakOut event to have their say on topics such as transport, shopping, culture, recreation and facilities.
About 200 residents took part and visited information stalls and consultants to ensure their wide range of views were heard.
City of Casey planning and development director Peter Fitchett said he was very pleased with the enthusiastic community support for the event.
“The number of people participating in the activities, as well as volunteers helping on the day, is a good foundation for the beginning of the community renewal initiative.”
Family fun was also provided on the day with Casey favourite Lady Uppity Crust as well as Red the Clown and Lindy Loo’s Face Painting.
Music acts Chris Newman, Jean-Marc Koonwhye and Terril Percussion entertained people at the event.
Free drumming workshops and art and craft activities at the Hampton Park Community House were provided for all ages, while the Hampton Park CFA’s sausage sizzle and 1st Hampton Park Scouts’ Aussie dampers made sure everyone was well fed.
Mr Fitchett said the next step in the community renewal process was a range of targeted discussions with key local groups, which, combined with the feedback from the SpeakOut event, would help result in an action plan being developed for Hampton Park.
