Oasis of calm for busy MP

A LOCAL Member of Parliament tiptoed through the tulips recently as part of the MPs in Business program.
Hastings MP Rosy Buchanan spent the day touring Australia’s largest seedling producer, Oasis Horticulture, in Five Ways as part of the Victorian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry program.
Ms Buchanan said she was impressed by the way that Oasis managed to conduct a state-of-the-art business while retaining a family business atmosphere.
“I saw the latest in nursery and propagating technology being used by people who have worked at Oasis for 20 years and regard their workmates and employers almost as extended family,” Ms Buchanan said.
Ms Buchanan toured the nursery and offices with Oasis Five Ways nursery manager, Jim Johnson.
Oasis Horticulture has been active in the Australian horticultural industry since the 1940s and is recognised for its product innovation and international focus.
The company has been active in the Australian biotechnology arena for more than 20 years.
“Oasis is the best in its field, right in our back yard,” Ms Buchanan said.
