SEVEN Kilberry Valley Primary School students have made it into the top percentile of Australia’s young mathematical brains.
In July, students were challenged to complete a maths exam paper as part of the Westpac Australian Mathematics Competition.
The Hampton Park Primary School entered 47 grade five and six students in this year’s annual competition and the children were recently awarded certificates.
Two students received a certificate of high distinction after coming in the top two per cent of their year and region while another five were awarded distinctions for being in the top 15 per cent.
More than 40,000 students entered Australia-wide.
Kilberry Valley Primary School special events coordinator Lisa Cain said the school was very pleased with the students’ achievements, with a further 26 students receiving credits.
She said the children were looking forward to the challenge next year.
