AN 18-year-old Cranbourne man has been charged with arson after a house caught fire in Cranbourne on Christmas Day.
Police said the fire started after a firecracker was thrown into the front bedroom of the Stafford Avenue house about 11.30pm. There was no-one in the room at the time although a mother, her son and daughter were elsewhere in the house. They were taken to Dandenong Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. The fire damaged two rooms, leaving a $30,000 repair bill.
A man was charged with criminal damage by fire and conduct endangering life.He was ordered to appear before the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 26 March.
