Heat is on surf shop thieves

THIEVES gearing up for a hot summer stole a range of goods from a Tooradin surf shop last week.
Police said a window was smashed at the Surf Hut store on the South Gippsland Highway sometime between 5pm on 1 October and 3am the next day.
Thieves then entered the building and stole a range of surf clothes, hats and back-packs.
They also gained access to a display cabinet and stole several pairs of Dragon sunglasses.
Surf Hut owner Cheryl Andreula said the burglary occurred at an extremely unfortunate time when a range of new season stock had just arrived for summer.
“The alarm went off and neighbours heard what was going on, but by the time anything could be done they had left,” Ms Andreula said.
She said she would be improving security measures around the shop to make sure thieves were unable to break-in for a second time.
“We will lose sales from the sunglasses and some of the new stock will be hard to replace,” she said.
Ms Andreula added that it was business as usual and customers would still be able to purchase a wide range of surf goods from the store.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cranbourne police on 5991 0600.
