CRANBOURNE Primary School celebrated all things Indonesian last Friday in a day devoted to its culture.
The school’s Indonesian teacher Mary Chen said the day was very successful and enjoyed by both the students and the staff.
Ms Chen said the day was an annual school event to help promote and celebrate the learning of the language and appreciate Indonesia’s culture.
The students were given the opportunity to participate in a range of cultural workshops.
The grade preps dressed up and participated in the interactive story of The Thousand Temples.
The grade ones and twos made music in the angklung (an Indonesian bamboo musical instrument) workshop.
The grade threes and fours participated in the pencak silat (Indonesian art of self defence) while the grade fives and sixes took part in the gamelan (Indonesian orchestra) music workshops.
In the afternoon, the students put on a short cultural performance to entertain the whole school.
They were then treated to an Indonesian lunch of satay chicken and rice.
