Fun day goes swimmingly

IT WAS a celebration of families at the Cranbourne YMCA recently as locals gathered to swim, play and tuck into a family breakfast.
The activities were part of National Families Week, and Cranbourne YMCA decided to help families enjoy their time together at a special family fun day and community family breakfast with a host of recreation and leisure activities for mums, dads and the kids.
Staff member Melinda Carlson said many families had taken up the offer and enjoyed a hearty breakfast after their aquatic activities last Saturday morning.
“It was great to see all the parents spending time with their kids after swimming,” Ms Carlson said.
Mother of three Yvonne Romer brought her kids Braydon, Damien and Samantha down and said they had thoroughly enjoyed the morning.
“It was a beaut sunny morning for all of us to get out and enjoy a nice breakfast after our squad’s swimming training,” Ms Romer said.
The centre also hosted a Sunday fun day last Sunday, 21 May.
Cranbourne YMCA centre manager, Maurice Rossetti, said the day was a great way for all the family not only to partake in some general fitness activities, but also to get together socially for some quality family time.
“All the staff love to see families enjoying themselves together at the centre,” Mr Rossetti said.
The fun day included activities such as inflatable rides, a Y Healthy Kids program demo, learn to juggle sessions, kids crafts, Tupperware cooking and a sausage sizzle.
The Cranbourne YMCA is located at Grant Street, Cranbourne.
