THE OWNER of a Hampton Park business returned to his shop on the weekend to find someone had lit a fire on the back doorstep.
The owner found newspapers had been lit at the back door of the shop, an Asian supermarket at Hampton Park Shopping Centre on Somerville Road.
The burnt newspapers were found near crates and caused black marks on the door.
The fire happened sometime between midnight and 10am on Saturday.
Police said it was lucky the fire had burnt itself out and did not cause any major damage.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Constable Lauren Murphy at Cranbourne Uniform on 5991 0600.
