Thanks for helping

BETWEEN them they have given 80 years of voluntary service to the City of Casey.
Sue Plant, Linda Whitaker and Diana Health were officially recognised at a civic reception for their continued work with aged and disability services.
The function also recognised their service milestones, 30 years for both Ms Plant and Ms Whitaker, and 20 years for Ms Health.
The event was one of former mayor Kevin Bradford’s last, just days before the end of his mayoral term.
Cr Bradford used the opportunity to thank Casey’s 210 registered volunteers in aged and disability services for their “extraordinary work in providing a better quality of life for people who are frail aged and people of all ages with a disability”.
“The efforts of our volunteers help make Casey’s community tick, and, on behalf of the City of Casey, I extend my deepest thanks,” he said.
“It is also a credit to the community that so many of our volunteers have reached service milestones for continuing to volunteer year after year.”
Volunteer achievements over the past 12 months include Meals on Wheels, social support programs and Community Transport Service.
Cr Bradford urged residents to personally thank local volunteers by nominating them for a Casey Volunteer of the Year Award.
Nominations opened to coincide with International Day of the Volunteer on Tuesday, 5 December and details are available from Customer Service Centres by calling 9705 5200 or by visiting www.casey.vic.gov.au.
