BURGLARS broke into and ransacked a Lynbrook house on Saturday while the occupants were sleeping.
Cranbourne police said at least two offenders broke into a car parked outside the Elliot Parade property and ransacked it.
They then gained access to a locked garage and opened the two cars parked inside. Ignition columns were damaged on the three cars.
Police said it appeared they were trying to steal the cars. The thieves also ripped the rear vision mirrors off and ransacked the glove boxes.
Once inside the garage the offenders then accessed the house.
Police said they were heard walking through the house by the victims, who were in bed, but one of the victims believed it was her mother who was staying with them.
Nothing was stolen from the house.
