Assault charges

A MAN accused of threatening a security guard with scissors was arrested after catching a taxi from the crime scene to his neighbourhood.
At 5.45pm on 15 August, a man was seen by a security guard trying to break into a roller door of a shop at Centro Cranbourne Shopping Centre.
Police said when he was approached by the security guard he pulled out a pair of scissors, threatened the guard, then dropped the scissors and ran.
The guard chased him and grabbed him but then the man produced another object, which police believed to be a screwdriver.
He again ran off and got into a taxi outside the shopping centre.
Police retrieved footage from inside the taxi and traced the man to his home.
A 32-year-old Langwarrin man was charged with attempted burglary, unlawful assault and assault with a weapon. He is due to appear before the Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 2 October.
