Friends of Wilson Botanic Park Berwick celebrate Annual General Meeting

The Friends of Wilson Botanic Park Berwick (FOWBPB) held its Annual General meeting last Sunday on 7 December.

The FOWBPB committee aims to safeguard the history as well as Wilson Botanic Park’s future through organising activities and events for its members; promoting preservation of the area; and by encouraging the natural environment and value of the park.

As part of the meeting, those who attended were given a tour of the nursery that was propagated by the volunteers of the committee; attendees were also shown how the committee supports projects within the park.

City of Casey’s Mayor also attended the meeting, remarking it as a “pleasure” to speak with the FOWBPB.

“Wilson Botanic is one of Casey’s most loved and well-used parks, built on more than 30 years of dedication from the Friends Group, with now over 80 committed members,” said Mayor Koomen on social media.

“Great to hear updates on the History Project and the new volunteer-run nursery, both supported by council grants.”

In concluding the meeting, the committee also held an election ahead of the 2026 period, which saw Matthew Chester as President and Matt Kraeftt as Vice President.
