Bunjil Place showcasing multicultural filmmakers

Australia’s only multicultural film festival returns to Bunjil Place this weekend, once again delivering a stellar line up of short films from some of Australia’s most provocative filmmakers.

In partnership with the Victorian Multicultural Commission and Swinburne University, the Multicultural Film Festival will feature screenings of the nation-wide award winners and honourable mentions, across categories such as Best Short Fiction, Best Short Non-Fiction and Emerging Filmmaker.

Films on show will range from Best Short Fiction winner Ali Zoghi’s touching tale of adolescent sexuality to the films exploring topics of immigration and intergenerational tension that defy cultural barriers, and local residents are encouraged to come share in the insightful and thought-provoking stories being brought to life on the Outdoor Screen.

The evening will also feature a musical performance from Tooradin-based artist Breanne Peters, who will showcase her passion for Maori culture through her works.

A Q&A session with seasoned creative Roy Maloy and the filmmakers will also take place before the screenings begin at 8pm.

Tickets are $7 each and include a complimentary beverage.
