City of Casey Mayor Cr Amanda Stapledon encouraged families to come along and join the fun.

“Council is proud of our partnership with the Melbourne Stars and look forward to welcoming Team Green back to our premier sports precinct, Casey Fields, for what is sure to be another great day out,” she said.

“Now in its seventh year, this event attracts thousands of people to Casey Fields to meet some of the best cricketers in the country, enjoy the free family fun on offer and share in the cricket excitement that takes over our country each summer.”

Melbourne Stars chief executive Clint Cooper said they’re excited for a huge weekend of Stars at Casey Fields featuring some of the best cricketers in the world.

“Our WBBL team is going from strength to strength and is looking forward to putting on a show against the Perth Scorchers on both Saturday and Sunday morning – you don’t want to miss fireworks from the likes of Lizelle Lee, Erin Osborne and Mignon du Preez,” he said.

“On Sunday we’ll be putting on our seventh Melbourne Stars Family Day at Casey Fields and each year it gets bigger and better. The players are all looking forward to meeting our fans, and our partners are providing an enormous range of activities, games and rides for all the family to enjoy.

“Not to mention the finals of the Melbourne Stars League (MSL) – Sri Lanka will play Nepal in the women’s MSL final on Saturday before our WBBL match at 9.00 am, and Sri Lanka will play India in the men’s MSL final on Sunday beginning at 1.30 pm. We hope everyone in and around the City of Casey can come down and enjoy some cricket action and family fun this weekend!”
