A CRANBOURNE woman was attacked and robbed on Friday night when she stopped her car to help a man lying on the road.
The 35-year-old was driving along New Holland Drive in Cranbourne near the Casey Recreation Centre when she saw the man lying in the middle of the road.
Police said as the woman stopped and took off her seatbelt, another man smashed the passenger side window and stole her handbag.
At the same time another man appeared on the driver’s side and hit her in the face.
He then dragged her from the car onto the road where she was kicked.
The man lying in the middle of the road then sat up and started laughing before they all ran away.
The woman sustained minor grazing to her stomach and lower legs and swelling and soreness but no emergency medical assistance was required.
The men got away with a green handbag containing a purse, cash and jewellery.
Anyone with information should contact Detective Senior Constable Gary Emery at Cranbourne CIU on 5995 4577.
