Conway confusion continues

THE tale of two Cranbourne streets is set to continue.
The decision to rename either Conway Court or Conway Street was deferred to the next Casey council meeting.
Residents of the two streets have raised concerns including wrong mail deliveries, confusion with emergency service responses and general delivery issues.
Over the past year Casey Council has suggested a number of solutions to the problem, including changing the Cranbourne North postcode, changing one of the road names, or changing the street numbers.
Mayfield Ward councillor Steve Beardon said residents from Conway Court had approached him about the issue since he had become councillor.
“One of the streets has to change its name,” he said.
Cr Beardon said the best option was to make changes on the street with fewer houses, or possibly add an extra street number to one of the streets.
He said some residents had become quite aggressive after losing papers and credit cards.
“They’re at their wit’s end,” he said.
Casey planning manager Bob Baggio said council officers had had several discussions with Australia Post and were still looking at the most viable option.
The motion brought to the council’s Tuesday meeting recommended that meetings be arranged for the residents of the streets to discuss their ideas on how to deal with the road confusion.
But Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said he did not think a meeting with the residents would change much.
“You are going to have both (streets’) residents saying they don’t want to change,” he said.
Cr Bradford moved to defer the motion so the council could come up with a more suitable outcome.
