No warming up as big guns fire on night one of competition

The winter season of the South West Gippsland Dart League has officially kicked off with a fantastic opening night setting the foundations for a wonderful season ahead.

Two 100+ finishes and two spectacular 180s were the highlights of opening night, while a close game between two of the genuine title contenders was the main match-up of the evening.

Predators have hit the ground running with a high-quality 8-7 victory over Snipers.

Snipers had most of the individual highlights, with Dean Gibbs throwing seven tons and Jamie Brown four, while Brown also stunned the crowd with a brilliant 180 to boot.

Chris Richardson also put down an 86-pegout for Snipers, but a steady team performance got the Predators across the line.

Dart Devils defeated Generals 9-6 in a game that had a bit of everything.

Doug Amos got things rumbling for the Devils with a superb 116-peg, while his teammate Steve knocked in four tons for the evening.

Not to be outdone was John Bacic from Generals, who threw his first-ever 180 in competitions.

Jack Michalke from Mud Rats was unlucky not to have the highest peg for the night, putting down a cracking 114-finish in his team’s 11-4 victory over Gembrook.

In other games this week, Cheers flew to the top of the ladder on night one after a 13-2 victory over 26ers.

Liam Edwards threw five tons for Cheers while also polishing off a 64-peg.

Chris B scored five tons in a 9-6 win for Bullseyes over Dart Attack, while Just Social finish night one in the top four after a 9-6 triumph over Dart Vaders.

AAA Dartz had the bye.
