Cranbourne West man arrested for series of commercial burglaries

Police have arrested a Cranbourne West man following a series of commercial burglaries in the Cardinia, Casey and Dandenong areas between 13 April and 1 June.

It’s alleged the offender used an implement to smash holes in the glass front entry of multiple commercial premises before gaining access.

Premises targeted include cafes, restaurants, licensed premises, medical clinics, veterinary clinics and other retail stores.

It’s alleged he attended commercial premises on all modes of transport, including vehicles, scooters, bikes and on foot.

A search warrant was executed at an address on Fishburn Place in Cranbourne West, where a number of items were seized, including allegedly stolen credit cards and identification, stolen number plates, a significant quantity of ammunition and an imitation firearm.

Police arrested a 41-year-old Cranbourne West man at the address.

He has been charged with 39 counts of burglary, six counts of handling stolen goods, prohibited person possessing imitation firearm, possessing ammunition, proceeds of crime, possessing drug of dependence and committing indictable offence whilst on bail.

He was remanded to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court today 4 June.
