A NOTORIOUS intersection in Pearcedale has been dubbed one of the worst in Victoria by Flinders MP Greg Hunt.
Mr Hunt made the call during a recent sitting of Federal Parliament, in which he discussed key road priorities in his electorate.
He said it was time to set out a five-year agenda for the critical local and arterial projects within Flinders.
The intersection of Queens Road and Western Port Highway was highlighted second on his list of urgent upgrades, Mr Hunt said, following the recent removal of the right hand turn.
“This recent decision was a quick fix and a cheap approach to avoid having to create a traffic island,” he said.
“It is a priority for local residents that they do not lose access into Queens Road.
“The way forward is a combination of traffic calming measures and the installation of a traffic island.”
He also said Robinsons Road in Pearcedale was in desperate need of sealing.
“At least the edges, if not the entire road,” he said.
Mr Hunt said the local projects tied in with his two major arterial priorities – the Kooweerup and Frankston bypasses.
“A Kooweerup bypass will bring the major traffic out of the heart of the town,” he said.
“A Frankston bypass is also needed, particularly now that the Scoresby Freeway – cum tollway – is to be developed.”
