Add to women’s roll

By Alison Noonan
OUTSTANDING women in the community can now be nominated for the 2006 Victorian Honour Roll of Women.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera reminded residents to nominate those who have made a difference in their community before the closing date in October.
“The Honour Roll of Women recognises and celebrates the achievements of women from all walks of life who have made an outstanding contribution,” Mr Perera said.
Nominations are sought from a range of fields such as sport and recreation, social justice, education, science, medicine, business, journalism, community service, media, rural health, abortion law reform, as well as involvement in ethnic and indigenous communities.
The names of up to 20 women are added to the roll each year on International Women’s Day on 8 March. To date, 332 women have been named. Nominations close on 15 October 2005.
