Hanrahan overcomes hiatus to score first win after break

It was great to be back following the Christmas break when 53 of our family of bowlers turned up at Loch where we were welcomed back by Trevor.

It was always going to be a warm to hot day, but that was not going to dishearten our bowlers.

We were greeted on arrival by Pauline and John as Peter worked his magic selecting teams.

Once the teams were called we all went out to start the game.

The morning game was a real treat.

The weather was mild to warm, no wind to speak of, and a straight, true green.

Quite a bit of laughter around the green and lots of happy faces.

Our afternoon game following the lunch break was shortened from 12 to 10 ends.

It was a great decision as the temperature rose quite a bit in the afternoon as the clouds cleared away.

The quality of the bowling was, as usual, excellent.

Great to see that the extended Christmas break didn’t harm any of our bowlers’ abilities.

Today’s winners on a count back with a score of 33 were Mark Hanrahan (S), Brenda Moloney (2), Stephen Muhi (3), Dennis Tomlin (L)

Runners Up also on a score of 33 were Lou Capsalis (L), Amanda Bozelle (2), Peter Gratton (S), Jaye Allen-Dayle (3)

Best One Game winners with a score of 20 were Craig Brown (S), Aggie Gratton (L), Michael Saunders (2), Rob Jeffreys (3)

A big thank you to Trevor behind the bar as well as Loreen in the kitchen, as well as looking after the hall with help from Paul.

It is as always, these volunteers who give so much of their time and effort that keeps these games going.

Next week we will be meeting at Lang Lang to once again fight it out for team of the week.

We look forward to seeing all our bowlers there.

As there is no weekend pennant this week we will wish the midweek players the best of luck on Tuesday.

As usual, please stay safe and have a great week.

-Laurie Bell
