Man charged following Cranbourne house fire

Police have charged a man following a house fire in Cranbourne in the afternoon of Wednesday 4 December.

Emergency services were called to reports of a house on fire in Roberts Road at about 4.30pm.

One person home at the time was evacuated safely.

The fire caused extensive damage to the property.

Four adjoining properties were also evacuated as a precaution and there were no injuries.

Swift acting officers arrested a 22-year-old Cranbourne man at the scene.

He was charged with criminal damage by fire.

He was remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 5 December.
