Supermarket finally comes off the shelf

– Alison Noonan
THE new FoodWorks supermarket in Tooradin will open its doors on Monday after a trying six-month wait.
Developer Stan Burnett said he was delighted to finally unveil the long awaited store to the public following a “few minor hiccups” with the building permits.
“We were supposed to open in September but unfortunately we encountered some hold ups,” he said.
“We are all just elated to be finished. This supermarket will do wonders for Tooradin.
“It is something that is desperately needed here and the community has waited patiently over the last six months.”
The FoodWorks supermarket includes fresh food, produce and liquor store and will be open seven days.
Mr Burnett said the small coastal village was set for major changes in the coming months, including the opening of a new surf shop, restaurant, chemist and doctor.
“The surf shop opened on the weekend, the restaurant is about to be fitted out, the chemist will go in soon and the house on the corner will be refurbished as a doctor’s surgery,” he said.
