It was a simple case of bank the four points and move on for the premiership contenders this week as rain-soaked grounds made it impossible to play free-flowing football.
Nar Nar Goon had more scoring shots than any other team in the competition on its way to a 6.18(54) to 2.3(15) victory over Kooweerup at Denhams Road.
The Goon welcomed back key-forward Dermott Yawney after four games on the sidelines, while Flynn Parker, JJ Peni and Tex Marsham also returned to the side.
The Goon had this one locked away early, leading by 16 and 28 points at the first two change of ends, before cruising home to victory.
Trent Armour was once again superb for the navy blue and white hoops, while Parker made an impact on his return.
This ends a tough run of games for Kooweerup, who now has the opportunity – against Kilcunda-Bass, Warragul Industrials, Dalyston and Korumburra-Bena – to give their long-suffering supporters some hope heading into the pre-season.
Seth O’Hehir was the Demons best, while skipper Nathan Voss will take some good form into those final four weeks of the season.
Phillip Island livewire Yianni Caffieri continues to fly under the radar; booting a game-high three goals in a 12.11(83) to 4.6(30) win over Garfield.
Caffieri has now kicked goals in six of his last eight games, and complemented two goals each to Billy Taylor, Bryce Hindhaugh and Jack Taylor on the weekend.
Max Walton, Hayden Bruce and Zac Walker were once again match-winners for the Doggies, who welcomed aboard Daniel Caffieri and Kirby Fuller for their senior debuts.
Josh Evans and Jack Barnes were best for Garfield.
In other games this week, Jarvis Harvey kicked four goals in Inverloch-Kongwak’s 44-point win over Dalyston, while Mason McGarrity matched that total for Warragul Industrials; who broke a four-game losing streak with a 33-point victory over Korumburra-Bena.
The Dusties welcomed back the classy Bailey Beck for his first game since round one, while Campbell Gibbons did some nice things on debut.
And former Berwick teammates Tim Gunn and Travis Tuck dominated proceedings at Bunyip, kicking four and two goals respectively in Kilcunda-Bass’s 8.14(62) to 2.3(15) win over Bunyip.
Nathan Foote was superb for the Panthers through the midfield, while Ben Stewart, Seth Ashton and Riley Simpson never gave up for the Bulldogs.
