Clyde and Cranbourne East boys arrested

Police have charged five children following alleged violent offences overnight that ended in a high-speed pursuit, including two from Clyde and Cranbourne East.

The pursuit commenced when the allegedly stolen black BMW sedan was spotted by police in Boronia, near Mountain Highway, at about 10.25pm on Tuesday 16 April.

A co-ordinated police response involving police from uniform, highway patrol and the Air Wing resulted in police taking action to ram the stolen BMW on Wellington Street in East Melbourne at about 11.20pm to prevent any further serious risk to the community.

The five teenage occupants were taken into custody by officers.

It’s alleged the stolen BMW is linked to seven serious and violent offences that occurred prior to the pursuit last night where the offenders, armed with machetes, targeted small businesses.

A 17-year-old Clyde boy has been charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, theft of motor vehicle and dangerous driving whilst pursued by police.

A 16-year-old Seaford boy, a 16-year-old Cranbourne East boy, a 15-year-old Wantirna boy, and a 14-year-old Rowville boy have been charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery and theft of motor vehicle.

They have all been remanded to appear in a children’s court at a later date.
