Coronation of the Smiths at Corinella

SWGMW BOWLS

The last Thursday of summer attracted 44 members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group to Corinella to fight it out for ‘Team of the Week’ bragging rights.

It was a mild to warm day, with Terry preparing the rinks and was also wonderful enough to look after both the bar and kitchen as well.

Thank you, Terry.

As we went out to start our day of fun, the weather was a little threatening and cool but nothing became of the threats and it turned out to be a perfect day for bowls.

A fair amount of laughter was heard from all corners with some great competition.

Scores appeared to be quite low as teams seemed to be very well matched.

Not a lot of wrong bias bowls to be seen, but still some money going to our charity jar; keep it up ladies and gentlemen.

Good to see visits from some of our members who couldn’t actually play today with visits from Sonya, Allan and Steve; it was lovely to see them all.

Weekly winners on a score of 35 were David Smith (S), Mark Hanrahan (3), Sue Wright (2) and Jenny Smith (L).

Runners up on a score of 30 points were Peter Borradale (S), Gillian Harper (3) and Jim Nunan (L).

And the Best One Game Winners on 24 points were Peter Grattan (S), Frank D’Unienville (3) and Tony Morris (L).

As always, we send a huge thank you to Peter and Pauline for all the hard work they do, both on site as well as the background work they do from home.

And let’s not forget John our President for his masters of ceremony duties each week.

Next week we will be meeting at San Remo by 10am to once again fight it out for team(s) of the week.

Meanwhile to those still in the running for Pennant Premiers, we wish you all the best, and look forward to seeing our members win the trophies.

So good luck to those players.

Stay safe and see everyone next week.
