Lang Lang Bowls Club hosted 22 members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group on Thursday who braved some tough conditions.
Predictions were for the temperature to reach 36-degrees, and the weather bureau was spot on, which makes me wonder about the sanity of myself and this friendly group of bowlers.
However, the day was a lot of fun with lots of laughter on the green, much of this caused by a strong wind which made conditions difficult.
As usual there was also a reasonable amount of friendly banter.
A few wrong bias bowls helped put some extra cash into the Royal Children’s Hospital tin this week; it’s always good to see our players helping out.
Although the temperature was quite high there were very few complaints about it, but we did shorten the second game by a couple of ends just to be safe.
As usual I would like to thank Peter for all his hard work as well as John who assisted.
Peter was very much appreciated behind the bar and Bev was a great asset looking after the kitchen as well as helping people cool down on the green.
Also, thank you to David for putting out the mats, jacks, etc, before and after the games.
Today’s winners on a score of 34 were David Smith (S), Max Summers (3) and Arch Connell (L).
Runners up on a score of 31 were Michael Dady (S), Luke Monckton (3), Max Williams (2) and Shirl Corcoran (L).
Best One Game winners, on 22, were Peter Gratton (S), Laurie Bell (3), Peter McWilliams (2) and John Georgiou (L).
It is always a real pleasure to play with such great people every week and I take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them.
Next week we will be playing at Corinella which is always a fun day.
We ask that everyone be on site by 10 am to help Peter arrange the teams, and if anyone can help with team preparation it would be much appreciated.
Meanwhile to all those in the finals for pennant we wish you the best of luck and look forward to your success.
To the rest, stay safe.
