SWGMW BOWLS
There were mixed emotions as 32 members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group turned up at Kooweerup Bowls Club last Thursday.
It was a sad farewell to the Kooweerup Bowls Club clubhouse today, a place we have visited and been welcomed within for many years.
We are sorry to be saying farewell; but progress must go on.
The weather was absolutely perfect for a game of bowls, temperatures in the low twenties, no wind to speak of, but maybe slightly too much sun for some of us oldies.
But it was a lovely day for it none the less.
There was lots of laughter across the greens; lots of friendly banter as usual and I really feel privileged to be a part of such a lovely group of people.
Thank you to David for opening up for us today and preparing the green prior to game time, and also for his hard work in the bar and in the kitchen.
And thank you to Luke and Laurie for helping to clear up the green and inside after everyone went home.
This week’s winners on 36 points were Peter Gratton (S), Rob Jeffreys (3), Jim Noonan (2) and Shane Wright (L).
Runners Up on 34 points were Peter McWilliams (S), Robyn Coulson (3), Neil Andreatta (2) and Shirley Corcoran (L).
Best One Game winners were Michael Dady (S), Raff Merante (3), Ruth Waring (2) and Derek Fenn (L).
This week we will be meeting at Lang Lang and we ask that all our bowlers be on site by 10am to allow our hard-working Peter time to arrange the teams.
So, until then, we wish all our members a safe week and also a successful final week of play prior to the finals in pennant.
