Phil picks the Wright time for bowls at San Remo

SWGMW Bowls

Members of the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group could not have asked for a better day as 45 players headed to San Remo to take part in the weekly challenge

There were lots of happy bowlers, lots of laughter, and quite a bit of friendly banter as usual.

It is so good to be able to have such fun with your friends every week.

A big thank you to our members who got up and helped Peter get everyone on the green, not forgetting Pauline and John who are always there.

A big thank you also to the members who helped Gwen in the kitchen.

It was great to see the men and women both helping out and we are so lucky to have these volunteers.

While we are at it, we should also thank Hayden in the bar because what would we do without our bar volunteers.

This week’s winners on 38 points were Phil Wright (S), Chris Brooks (3), Derek Fenn (2) and Margaret McConville (L).

Runners up on 37 points were Vern Elliott (S), Nick Sheers (3), Frank D’Unienville (2) and Tony Morris (L).

Best One Game winners on 21 points were co-skipped by Peter McWilliams and Lindsay Russell (Co Skips), with Chris Coulson (3), Bev Elliott (2) and Claire Sheers (L) making up the team.

Next week we will be meeting at Kooweerup where we will be playing our final game prior to the clubhouse being replaced.

We look forward to this historic visit… but with some sadness.

However, as always, we ask that all our bowlers be on site by 10am to allow our hard-working Peter time to arrange the teams.

So, until then, we wish all our members a safe week and also a successful week in their respective pennant competitions.

Good Luck everyone.
