Real estate move towards retirement

RETIREMENT marks the end of an era for well-known Cranbourne business identity Robin Daley, who is farewelling the local real estate industry after 38 years.
Mr Daley is preparing to sell his real estate agency in High Street, which he established in November 1968, to Alex Scott and work as a consultant for the next 12 months.
Chairman of the Cranbourne Turf Club and Cranbourne Chamber of Commerce member, Mr Daley said he would remain involved in the Cranbourne community but felt the need to “ease back” after reaching the ripe old age of retirement.
He said his wife, Joan, had also decided to retire after six years working at the Cranbourne Newsagency.
“My wife has sold her business too, so it will work in well,” Mr Daley said.
“It’s going to be a big change after working for so long. A bit of a culture shock actually. I have enjoyed Cranbourne and have had a lot of association with the Chamber of Commerce, the racing industry and local community.
“But I will still be heavily involved in the community.”
Mr Daley said he planned to use his new-found freedom to indulge in travel, the occasional spot of golf and further racing activities.
“I will have more time to play golf, concentrate on farming, travel and pursue my interests in racing.
“I will be attending the Darwin Cup in August and hopefully the Dubai Cup next year,” he said.
However, Mr Daley is devoting much of his spare time to his latest, and perhaps greatest, project to date — the development of an $8.5 million sports club in Beaconsfield.
“It will be similar to Trios in Cranbourne or Racers in Pakenham.
“This club will include a function room, gaming, bistro, pool and gym and generate huge profits for the local sporting clubs,” he said.
“It will be a great asset for the Beaconsfield comm-unity.”
