SWGMW BOWLS
A cold and miserable day greeted the South West Gippsland Midweek Bowling Group at Corinella on Thursday with the outlook rather bleak.
However, 38 bowlers turned up to once again fight it out to see who would be a part of the best team of the day.
What a great turnout – and as time went by, bowlers were removing coats and jumpers as the weather improved.
As usual there was a lot of friendly banter among the players but this didn’t distract from the quality of the bowling which was first rate.
A big thank you goes to Phil, for preparing the green for our members, and to Terry for his hard work behind the bar.
Peter, Pauline and John continue week by week to do all the hard work to keep us going.
We thank then very much.
The weekly winners on 36 points were David Smith (S), Margaret Hoy (3), Jim Noonan (2) and Max Williams (L).
Runners-up on 33 points were Craig Brown (S), Sue Stansfield (3), Raffael Merante (2) and Margaret McConville (L).
Best One Game winners on 28 points were Terry Floyd (S), Mark Hanrahan (3), Frank D’Unienville (2) and Tony Morris (L).
This week the group will return to San Remo and is looking forward to another great turnout.
We ask everyone to be on site by 10am to allow enough time for Peter to arrange the teams.
This is not an easy or quick process.
Meanwhile we wish the best for everyone at your Pennant matches, both this weekend, as well as the midweek players on Tuesday.
