Protecting young people against HPV

Casey Council is urging parents and guardians to safeguard their children’s health by ensuring they have received the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) immunisation.

The council is running a free catch-up program for any adolescents who missed their 2020 and 2021 secondary school vaccinations including a council-run after hours immunisation event in Narre Warren.

HPV is a common virus that can cause a variety of serious health problems, including cervical cancer, genital warts, and other HPV-related cancers.

To be most effective, HPV vaccination should be delivered prior to commencement of sexual activity, which creates the opportunity for infection.

The safe and effective HPV vaccine is the best way to protect young people from these diseases.

The after-hours HPV vaccination event is happening at Bunjil Place in Narre Warren on Saturday 28 October from 10am to 1pm.
